Pulmuone Supplies Plant-Based Meat To US Fast Causal Restaurants, Expanding Its Plant-Based Meat Business in US

SEOUL – November 8th, 2021– Pulmuone enters plant-based meat it developed to stores of a U.S. well-being food restaurant to begin its plant-based meat business on full-scale.

 

Pulmuone, a South Korean food company which announced its commitment to becoming a plant-forward food leader in March this year, announced on 8th that Pulmuone Foods USA, the company’s U.S. operation, is now selling its plant-based meat made with pea protein to 200 stores of WaBa Grill, a U.S. well-being food restaurant franchise, with an aim to expand its plant-based meat business in the U.S.

 

Pulmuone’s plant-based meat, which was recently released in the U.S. for the first time, is a meat alternative product similar in taste and texture to meat made with textured vegetable protein extracted from peas and developed by Pulmuone Institute of Technology.

 

Unlike Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods and other U.S. foodmakers whose plant-based products are mainly in the forms of patties and sausages, Pulmuone Foods USA is presenting plant-based meat products tailored to the forms of steak menus with BBQ flavor developed to meet U.S. consumers’ palates, getting positive feedbacks from food services and restaurants in the U.S.

 

Using Pulmuone Foods USA’s plant-based meat as an ingredient, WaBa Grill is selling 3 items of ‘Plantspired’ steak menus: steak plate, steak salad and steak veggie bowl. ‘Plantspired,’ a compound word of ‘plant’ and ‘inspired,’ is a plant-based food brand of Pulmuone Foods USA which was launched early this year.

 

Waba Grill is an well-being food restaurant chain with $150 million annual sales of healthy menus including chicken, steak, salmon, etc. in 200 stores located across the western U.S. “Collaborating with Pulmuone Foods USA to bring Plantspired Steak to our guests was a natural fit for us as we continue to build more menu innovation, especially in the increasingly popular plant-based and meat alternative category,” said Mark Finnegan, Chief Marketing & Information Officer for WaBa Grill.

Pulmuone Foods USA is also partnering with UMass Dinning, the largest collegiate dining program in the U.S., to supply various products of ‘Plantspired’ to students in the University of Massachusetts Amherst and plans to establish partnerships with the University of Michigan, Virginia Tech and Yale University.

Pulmuone is also aggressively expanding its plant-based meat business in the homeland country. The company is a supplier of plant-based meat to local fast food chains and coffee franchise stores of global brands. Pulmuone is planning to release a new product of fire-grilled beef made with plant-based ingredients next month and launch a plant-based food local brand with an aim to lead the nation’s plant-based meat market.
