To improve upon issues related to nutritional imbalance that may potentially occur from the eating habits of people living in today’s societies, we develop products in strict compliance with our in-house nutritional guidelines. If for some inevitable reason, we are not able to follow our nutritional guidelines due to the nature of a particular product, we offer eating or cooking instructions aimed at addressing the issue to help you enjoy a nutritionally balanced meal. Moreover, at Pulmuone, we are expanding our lineup of products and meal plans (211 meal plan*) for GL diet programs aimed at reducing the amount of sugar absorbed into the bloodstream.
*211 meal plan: A nutritionally balanced meal plan with the portions of vegetables, protein, and whole grains set to a ratio of 2:1:1.

We are doing our absolute best to increase our use of humanely grown and sourced livestock products and marine products certified under the ASC or MSC* system to preserve the dignity of animals and reduce the harm caused by factory-style livestock husbandry and indiscriminate fishing.
*ASC, MSC: Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) - International certification systems aimed at ensuring sustainable aquaculture and fishing activities to help future generations enjoy an abundance of marine resources.

We are expanding the use of plant-based protein ingredients, which contain less saturated fat than meat and emit less carbon during its production process. In the event we need to use meat, we are doing our best to use more poultry, fish, and eggs rather than red meat.
4We use environmentally conscientious manufacturing processes and comply with eco-friendly packaging principles.
We strive to minimize factors from our production process, from raw materials processing to manufacturing, packaging, sales, and disposal of products, that can adversely affect the environment. In particular, for food products, we follow the “3R” packaging principle. We optimize our packaging design to fit different manufacturing process to fundamentally cut or reduce our consumption of resources (“Reduce”), we use water-based adhesives, water-based inks and ethanol inks to remove chemical residue from packaging films ("Remove"), and we design our packaging to be recyclable after use (“Recycle”).. Also, for packaging materials that come into direct contact with the actual product, we primarily use PE, PP, and PET materials that do not pose any risk of producing hazardous substances such as environmental hormones.

Making wholesome foods all starts with choosing safe ingredients. In addition to conducting preliminary inspections on pesticide residues, heavy metals, and pathogenic microorganisms, we make sure to use raw ingredients backed up by traceable history data, including information on the origin, production, shipping, and distribution of a given ingredient. Also, to guard against potential health risks, we use raw ingredients that are safe from irradiation, antibiotics, and growth promoters.
6We comply with strict rules on minimizing the use of additives.
We keep our use of additives to a minimum based on safety standards established internally at Pulmuone, which are stricter than the additive standards stipulated in the Food Sanitation Act.

We have our own safe manufacturing standard featuring called the Pulmuone Food Safety Management System (PFSMS), which complies with requirements set in the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). PFSMS features a QMS (Quality Management System), various standard manufacturing processes, and hygiene management standards to make sure we can produce safer products that give our customers more confidence. Furthermore, to deliver optimal quality, each product complies with strict temperature management standards, including requirements for room temperature, refrigeration, and storage requirements during distribution (store at room temperature, refrigerate, deep-freeze).

We have an obligation to provide the right information about the foods we make, and customers have the right to select products themselves based on a thorough understanding of each product. Truly wholesome foods do not have anything to hide. Through our New Complete Labeling System, we have made public all ingredients and additives. Pulmuone has an obligation to provide correct information about our food products, just as our customers have the right to choose products based on accurate information. Pulmuone’s New Complete Labeling System, more stringent than what the laws require, allows you to thoroughly examine the ingredients and additives used in our products and help you make informed decisions.

Principles for Wholesome Foods

Entering the bar code number or product name of a Pulmuone product (for example, tofu/vegetables, seasoned laver/sea mustard) in our system will provide you with information about how they have been produced and delivered—from the place of origin to the store. In 2006, for the first time in Korea, Pulmuone introduced the Production History Information System for its organic tofu and bean sprouts. In 2007, the seafood history system was added to include laver products, and in 2008, the whole system was expanded once again to include tofu and bean sprouts made from locally produced beans. Operating the Production History Information System is not easy. It requires accurately identifying, storing and directly managing all relevant information, such as raw materials and manufacturing methods, from the manufacturing to sales stage. This, in turn, demands technical expertise and the human and material support from all sectors. To guarantee safe, wholesome foods, Pulmuone will continue to expand the scope of the production history system.
