Pulmuone Approved as Internationally Accredited Testing Laboratory, Proving R&D Capabilities

SEOUL – May 12th, 2021– Pulmuone Institute of Technology, a cutting-edge R&D headquarters of Pulmuone, is approved as internationally accredited testing laboratory by KOLAS, proving its globally competitive research capabilities.

Pulmuone announced on 12th that the Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Institute of Technology obtained international accreditation as a testing laboratory from Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, a governmental body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

International Testing Laboratory Accreditation Scheme is a system that reviews qualities and technology levels in accordance with the requirements in the relevant Act to officially approve a testing laboratory.

The Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Institute of Technology was accredited as a testing laboratory for 34 fields including nutrition content, pesticide residue, heavy metals, minerals and preservatives, microorganisms, etc. Pulmuone Institute of Technology will be entitled to test more than 20 thousand items of foods, health supplements, and food materials.

Certifications issued by the Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Institute of Technology will take effect in 104 member countries of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, including the U.S., Japan, China, and countries in Europe.

As a KOLAS-accredited international testing laboratory entitled for issuance of official certifications, Pulmuone proved its status as a globally-trusted and professional organization.

After its first accreditation from KOLAS as a testing laboratory in 2002, Pulmuone Institute of Technology, which moved to Osong Biopolis located in North Chungcheong Province of the country in 2019, passed the strict standards of KOLAS this year and will maintain its status as an internationally accredited testing laboratory until February 2025

“After its reestablishment in Osong Biopolis in North Chungcehong Province and announcement on the new leap forward, Pulmuone Institute of Technology reaffirmed its globally competitive testing capabilities through the accreditation from KOLAS,” said Sang-yun Lee, Chief of Technology Officer of Pulmuone. “Leveraging the trust on our testing facilities, we will achieve the world’s top food safety control and food quality capabilities.”

Pulmuone Institute of Technology, a 12,446 square meter LEED-certified eco-friendly building with 6 floors above ground and 1 underground, was established in 2019 as a global R&D center of Pulmuone with a budget of over $32M. More than 200 researchers and employees are working in the place to contribute to the sustainable eating habits of Pulmuone’s customers.

The KOLAS-accredited Food Safety Center of Pulmuone Institute of Technology was created in 2006 and is in charge of tests and assessments on nutrition content of its products, pesticide residue, heavy metals, etc. as well as the decision on shelf-life dates.
