SEOUL – July 26th, 2021– Pulmuone, a South Korean fresh food company and the nation’s plant-forward food leader, debuts its tofu noodles to overseas markets.

Pulmuone Foods announced on 26th that the company is set to sell Tofu Noodles, its newly developed wheat-free noodles made with high-protein tofu, in Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand from August to expand its presence in the global market.

The tofu noodle products will be shipped from the end of July and placed on shelves of overseas supermarkets by August. In Singapore, Tofu Noodles will be sold in stores of Cold Storage, one of the largest supermarket chains in Singapore owned by Dairy Farm International Holdings.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, plant-based protein has been in the limelight as consumers are increasingly considering their health and environmental sustainability. Based on its top-level tofu business capabilities as the world’s no.1 tofu maker, Pulmuone is offering various products in the U.S., China, and Japan that meet the specific needs and trends of each country to lead the global plant-based food market. In countries besides ones mentioned above, Pulmuone is trying to tap into the plant-based protein food market by introducing its hot-selling tofu noodle products.

Pulmuone plans to go beyond starting to sell Tofu Noodles in Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand and expand to Europe, the U.S., and Southeast Asia.

In countries in Europe and the U.S., vegan food market has already been established and the stakes are high for vegan food consumers. In the U.S., specifically, tofu has surfaced as a healthy, plant-based meat alternative, and tofu sales of Pulmuone Foods USA has been steadily increasing. Southeast Asian countries including Singapore are heavily affected by global meat substitute trend and witnessing the rapid growth in the market size of plant-based food and meat alternatives.

Pulmuone Tofu Noodles has sold over 5 million units locally since it was launched a year ago and counting. As a growing number of consumers are adding the noodles with a low-carb option to their cart, Pulmuone came up with Tofu Noodle Kit, a convenience food consisting of tofu noodles and plant-based sauces, in last April. Launches of new tofu noodle products are scheduled for the coming days.

Meanwhile, Pulmuone is conducting cross-border marketing strategies to expand its plant-based foods by selling various products overseas. For example, Tofu Bar - a healthy protein snack for easy consumption made with tofu - was launched in South Korea in last April after its big hit in Japan.
